[#15] Central Asia: A New Work!

[#15] Central Asia: A New Work!

They rarely pop up in the news, nor are they mentioned in everyday conversation, but the little-known nations of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan are still in need of Jesus Christ. They were all part of the old Soviet Union, and the population base is heavily Muslim. This amalgamation of thought and belief systems spawned a political climate demanding that no proselytizing occur within their borders.

As a result, there is little broadcasting of the gospel coming from inside these countries, except for an occasional hardwired radio installed by the previous Soviet government. Because AWR presently broadcasts on the same government-owned Russian network, some of these hardwired homes still receive AWR's programs ... but very few! To compound the situation, there are precious few Seventh-day Adventists in these countries, except for Kazakhstan.

The Project
Church leaders in the region are eager to work with AWR and spread the gospel. We are now working toward the goal of programs for the Internet (podcasts) in their local languages, which can also be broadcast via shortwave. By God's grace, when the ground softens, the plans are to place "entering-wedge" programs on local stations - programs containing topics of health and lifestyle. We have used this same approach in Georgia and Armenia, and are experiencing good success.

It is time to reach out to the fifty million plus people living in this isolated corner of the world and let them know that they can have eternal happiness and peace through Jesus Christ. But it cannot happen without your prayers and financial support. Please partner with us today so they can hear.

Program production for the “stan countries”: $40/program
Airtime for Armenia: $20/day
